Chesterfield Love Letter

{all images via pinterest}

Dear Mr. Chesterfield,

I heart you. You are sexy. You are sleek. You are fun. You are fabulous. You are classic. You are stylish. You, sir, rock my world.

I hope one day you will love me like I love you. Until then, you will be in my dreams.

Love always,
D

Hello, Monogram Bedding.

A couple of days ago, I posted about sconces for my bedroom.   Now I am looking for bedding and I think my monogram would be absolute perfection.  I have yet to decide if I would like a monogram duvet with matching monogram pillows or just a fabulous, single monogram pillow with simple bedding.   Whatcha think?

The last picture is my fav, for sure.  And on that note, I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Is there a zebra in my future?

Since the carpet in my living room has been replaced with hardwood floors, I have been itching for a new rug.  I can't quiet figure out what I want though.  Originally, I purchased an oriental rug for the space, but it looked wayyy too old lady-ish when combined with the hand-me-down furniture I received from my mom.  I currently have a too-small-for-the-space rug that just isn't doing it for me, but I guess it is serving its purpose (kinda).  I thought maybe a jute/sisal/seagrass-type rug would be nice, but then it occurred to me that the room would be too blah/boring (since the couch is beige and the walls are a taupe-y color).  Sooo now I'm leaning towards a rug similar to this....

This is the living room of Jenna Lyons.  Ya know, THE Jenna Lyons, who has my dream job and wardrobe.....and house....and office.

Definitely loving the layering of rugs.  Jenna Lyons also does this in her home (see first picture of post).

And my favorite......
The "collected" look wins me over again.  The navy couches, cute little settee, gold framed sketches, zebra rug, and metal coffee table on casters all just....work.

The rug doesn't necessarily have to be a zebra print, but I am definitely drawn to that style the most.  And of course, I will let you all know what I end up with.

Pretty in Pink

I'll be honest; I've never really been a girl who is crazy about pink.  I always thought it was tooo girlie.  I know, I'm a girl, but I just didn't get it.  Things sure have changed, cause these days I'm digging some P-I-N-K.  And it might or might not have crossed my mind to do my bedroom in pink and blue.  Some pink inspiration.....

I'm beginning to think the "collected" look is where my heart belongs.

I never thought I would want pink couches until I saw these.  How cannot you not L-O-V-E?

Built-ins? Check.
Deep dark walls? Check.
Huge wood table?  Check.
Bright pink modern chairs?  Check.
This space is perfect.  It had me at hello.

Where oh where does it go?

Loving some graphic wallpaper right now.  I would like to incorporate this into my condo, but I'm stuck on where it would go.

If I had a hall bath, I would definitely do this but both of my bathrooms have too many cut-ins.

B-I-G graphic print!

Removable wallpaper.  Why did I not know about this sooner?

I still can't get this print out of my head.  Will it make it to my kitchen?

There seems to be a reoccurring color scheme....

Ahead of myself

I'm already planning my next project (ya know, after the flooring is replaced)....I might be getting ahead of myself or maybe I'm just being proactive.  But I guess you have to do things to be proactive, so it looks like I'm just putting the horse before the cart or carriage.  I can't remember which one it is.  Oh well.

Next project:  Kitchen Redo

The kitchen looks something like this.....

(picture was taken before I moved in)

Of course now there are things (containers, cook books, etc.) all over the counters, a rug taking up the whole floor, and a picture leaning against the back wall.  Decorating at its finest.

Here are my plans for the space:

- remove popcorn ceiling (happened before I moved in.  thank goodness.)
- replace flooring (happening this weekend!)
- replace appliances (aka get rid of that awful looking stove)
- replace light fixture (no thank you on the florescent strip lighting)
- replace counter tops & sink
- remove upper cabinets on left side and replace with shelves
- remove microwave from above the stove and place on a shelf on the left side of the kitchen
- replace cabinet hardware
- enlarge the opening on left side of kitchen, which looks into living room
- paint walls!  how could I forget?!
- paint bottom cabinets....really excited to see how this turns out.
- possibly remove the wine rack above the frig that I will probably never use, but then what could I put there?

Here are some of my inspiration photos.

(found on pinterest but originally from BHG)
Loving the shelves and back splash.

Darker lower cabinets, white upper cabinets.

Microwave on upper shelving

And here are some tiny galley kitchens with S-T-Y-L-E.  These pictures are reassurance that it is possible to turn a tiny space into fabulousness.  I hope mine will look half as good as these.

If only I had pretty copper pots to display...

This picture is of interior designer Michael Penney's kitchen.  The rest of his house is just as cute!  Go here to see that and his write-ups at Canadian House & Home.

I don't know why but I am drawn to this kitchen.  It is just lovely.

Wallpaper = love. love. love.

I don't know if you can ever go wrong with black and white.  Classic.

I've finally come around

Dear Gingham,

I'm sorry I haven't committed before now.  I would always try you on, but you never made the cut.  I apologize and hope you will forgive me.

Sincerely,
Dara

Society Social Heaven

Roxy with My Cup of Te stole my heart when I read her about me section and she mentions that she can "whip up adobo".  My grandfather was from the Philippines, so this just made my heart melt (and then I started craving some adobo).  :-)

Anywho, the reason for my post.....not only do I love her adobo-cooking-skillz, but she has just launched a new home furnishings line call Society Social.  There are bar carts, chairs, tables....anything a girl (with style) could ask for!

I am loving the Darlington chairs and the Stanton bar cart!  A-dor-able.
